When did Bonwit Teller go out of business?

Bonwit Teller went out of business in 2000 after the company declared bankruptcy. Paul Bonwit opened his first department store in New York City in 1895, and Edmund D. Teller became his partner in 1897. In 2020, NBT Holdings purchased the Bonwit Teller name but, as of 2024, had not announced any plans to revive the store.
