An evocative late 19th-century watercolour depicting two dead plovers. The artist masterfully captures the textures and subtle colour variations of the birds' feathers against the grain of the light wood background. Signed to the lower right. Also signed, inscribed and dated verso. Well presented in a gilt frame with a white slip. On paper.
