About the Item

Original oil pastel on archival paper by the master pastelist, Elizabeth Mowry of a young girl wearing a yellow hat. Signed by the artist lower right “E. Mowry”. Circa 1985. Condition is excellent. The artwork is housed in its original solid oak frame in a walnut finish with a double mat. Under glass. Overall framed measurements are 23 by 27.25 inches. Provenance: A Nokomis, Florida collector. Elizabeth Mowry, American (Pastel Society of American, Master Pastelist) March 8, 1940 - July 18, 2020 "What many painters and poets have in common is an excruciating sensitivity to their surroundings. Nature takes a deep hold on them and the intensity of that relationship has much to do with the vision that ultimately inspires the painted images and the poems. Being born and raised and then returning as an adult to the idyllic Hudson Valley region of New York State, nature has always been my companion and my work is reflective of this relationship. I am intrigued by the expressive correlations between nature and every human emotion and stage of life." Elizabeth Mowry Elizabeth grew up surrounded by the landscapes of the Catskill Mountain region in Upstate New York. She was a member of the Woodstock School of Art for 15 years before relocating to Castle Rock, Colorado to be near her family. She was the 2009 Hall of Fame Honoree and a Distinguished Pastelist in the Pastel Society of the West Coast. She received more than forty awards in national and international exhibitions.
