About the Item

Explorer is Ink and Watercolor Pencil on paper, 24x16 framed to 30x22 Krzysztof Pastuszka is a dynamic artist and graduate of School of Visual Arts. He currently lives in Brooklyn. His work starts with an idea, a curiosity, a word. He then turns them into definitions, and maps out the process. Through books, old magazines, image searches, journalizing ideas he research topics and his images and compositions begin to take shape. He is part mad scientist, inventor, astronaut and all artist. According to Kris: " For me, art is a way of life, an adventure of those moments when something happens, connections are made and everything seems to make sense. My art revolves around the highs and lows of discovery, adventure, and chance. I am inspired by the ridiculous, the whimsical world of invention, nonsense, and complex machines in a playful atmosphere - to create an adventure of the unknown." Kris has exhibited throughout New York.

By Krzysztof Pastuszka

Located in Riverdale, NY

Watchmaker is an original Ink and Watercolor Pencil drawing on paper. It is 16x24, unframed. Krzysztof Pastuszka is an interdisciplinary artist who spans sculpture, drawing, engineering, and computer design. Much of his work focuses on the complexity and tension in transition/transitioning, giving voice to his experience growing up as a trans kid in the late 90s -2000s. His process consists of idea generation and the testing and creation of prototypes to generate a multitude of parts. He focuses on mechanical movement and the interplay between parts to visualize the intricacies of change and focus on the necessity of each component's ability to cooperate with another and create movement. He uses motion as a way to expose all the micro-operations and mental acrobatics involved in navigating and rejecting the unchanging nature of cisnormativity. He combines his array of skills to envision and compose an elaborate trail of blueprints archiving the hidden and unseen essence of his trans experience--building documentation that didn't exist in his childhood. His current body of work consists of multiple assemblies within one mechanical sculpture...

VFD #3 is an industrial watercolor painting on paper by California artist, Ferdinanda Florence. It is 11.25 x 7, unframed. It is based on the building in Vallejo California where the fire department conducts training. Ferdinanda Florence was born in Washington, DC, and grew up in Arlington, VA. She received a degree in art history and studio art at The American University in 1994, and has continued to pursue a successful professional life as a scholar, teacher, and practicing artist. She earned her Master’s degree in art history at the University of Maryland, College Park, in 1998. A second-generation Armenian-America, Ferdinanda has explored in her research the role of place in artistic expression. Her Master’s thesis detailed the link between Armenian religious rituals and church architecture. In her travel to sites in France, Italy, and Germany, she has researched the symbolism of doorway and floor decoration in Romanesque buildings. In her artwork, she uses industrial sites in her home city of Vallejo to explore issues of place on a more personal level. Ferdinanda’s exhibitions reflect her varied interests and concerns. Her work has appeared at the Di Rosa Preserve, Napa (“All in the Family IV,” 2005); the University of San Francisco Law School (“Creative Justice: A Social Art...
