About the Item

This is an original pencil drawing by Mihaly von Munkácsy. It was made in preparation for the oil painting "Christ Before Pilate" from 1881. The work is hand signed in pencil at the lower right corner. Provenance: Private collection, Germany. The work is accompanied by a photo certificate of authenticity from 7th Nov 2003, issued by the expert Mrs. Judit Boros. Condition: Good condition. Repaired tear on the top edge of the sheet as seen in the photo certificate. A small tear in the upper left corner. Rippling in the top left corner. Minor paper loss in the lower left corner. Remains of glue and hinging tape on verso.
