The card is well presented, with light handling marks, faint surface marks and minor age related wear visible in the photographs. The drawing itself remains crisp and expressive. Description: An attractive mid 20th century ink and pencil drawing by Bernard Labbe, depicting a fishing boat resting on the water. The vessel is shown in side profile, with its curved hull, rigging, mast, netting and deck details all described through quick, energetic linework. The subject has strong decorative and collecting appeal, particularly for those interested in French maritime art, fishing boats, harbour scenes, coastal drawings and original mid century works on paper. The drawing is handled with Labbe’s characteristic confidence and economy. Fine ink lines define the structure of the boat, while softer pencil marks add movement around the rigging, reflections and waterline. The open white background gives the composition a clean, modern feel, allowing the dark linear forms of the vessel to stand out clearly. Bernard Labbe was based around the Laval and L’Huisserie areas of Mayenne in the Pays de Loire.
