About the Item

This charming scene depicts a young shepherd boy asleep at his post while his faithful hound stands guard. The dog looks into the distance spotting a figure on horseback approaching. The artist captures the scene in fine detail, using a delicate hand to highlight the sleeping boy's peaceful features as he rests. Signed and dated to the lower right. Also inscribed M. Bottomley to the left hand corner. On card.
