"A Shady Runlet" Stream in Fall New Jersey Watercolor 1878 A rare and exceptional watercolor of two ladies viewing a New Jersey stream in fall by William C. Bauer (American, 1856- 1903). William C. Bauer was born in Elizabeth New Jersey and exhibited in New York and Pennsylvania from 1878-1900. His watercolors were popular very detailed in execution. A further biography is in progress and the artist should not be confused with Wilhelm "William" Cornelis Bauer (Germany). Son of George Bauer of Bavarian birth and Mary Bauer of Germany. Watercolor on heavy paper Signed lower left corner.
