Lowell Tolstedt (American, b. 1939) Still Life: Silver Dollars with Pins and Paper Clips Pencil on paper, 4 x 6 inches (sight) FRAMED: 15 x 17 inches (approx.) Signed at lower left: "LT" Signed on verso: "Lowell Tolstedt" (twice) Inscribed at bottom center: (outside composition) "Lowell TOLSTEDT - 1981 - SILVER DOLLARS WITH PINS AND PAPER CLIPS" Provenance: Philip Desind Living Trust/Capricorn Galleries, Bethesda MD (#1078) Lowell Tolstedt studied painting and drawing at the State University of South Dakota, briefly attended Glassboro State College in New Jersey, Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and subsequently earned a Masters degree at the State University of Iowa. He began teaching at The Columbus College of Art and Design in 1967 and became Dean of Fine Arts there about 1986. He retired in 2010. His works are in the collections of the Canton Museum of Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, the National Museum of American Art, Smithsonian Institute, the Columbus Museum of Fine Arts, among others.
