This series explores the tension between manufactured perfection and authentic human identity. Inspired by the philosophy of kintsugi — the Japanese art of embracing fractures rather than concealing them — the works transform cracks, imperfections, and emotional scars into symbols of illumination and healing. At first glance, the figures appear almost impossibly perfect. Their beauty feels familiar, yet distant — shaped by contemporary ideals increasingly influenced by digital culture, artificial intelligence, and algorithmically reinforced standards of beauty. Yet beneath these flawless surfaces, fractures emerge. Light escapes through the cracks, revealing something more intimate and profoundly human beneath the illusion. These openings become metaphors for vulnerability, self-acceptance, and emotional truth. The use of hand-applied crackled gold leaf reinforces this tension between fragility and value. Gold, traditionally associated with luxury and permanence, is intentionally fragmented and distressed. Technically, the series merges advanced digital image construction with artisanal craftsmanship, creating a dialogue between synthetic perfection and human vulnerability. Rather than rejecting technology, the works examine the emotional consequences of living within systems that continuously shape our perception of beauty, identity, and self-worth.
