About the Artist
Artist Rodion Gilmitdinov creates paintings that capture cities through broken lines, dynamic colors, and spontaneous brushwork. His compositions emerge as visceral reactions to his environment rather than strict representations. "My art is like visual diaries; it is spontaneous, raw, often nearly uncontrollable," shares Rodion. He grew up in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, where rhythm and silence shaped him. After moving to New York, the city’s chaos fueled his work. Without formal mentors, Rodion honed his skills through observation and persistence. He works in his studios in Brooklyn and Miami, where charcoal dust covers the floor, and music fills the air. When not making art, he walks through the city, observes people, and spends time with his family and dog.
