A man casts off from a dock in morning sunshine, his reflection softly distorted in the lapping water below. "The fisherman prefers catching fish early in the morning - it's not only his job but his real passion," says Andres. In his current Reflections series, Andres takes time to study everyday occurrences, particularly along the docks near his home in Miami, Florida. It's in these moments that he is able to capture a compelling, alternate view of our world.

About the Artist
Andres Lopez was born in the old Cuban town of Santa Clara. As a child, he developed a deep love for the beauty of the countryside and the exquisite architecture of his hometown. He participated in drawing contests at the tender age of nine where landscapes were always his favorite theme. In his early twenties, Andres made his way to Florida, bringing only his worn-out brushes and a great dream. Immediately captivated by the beauty of the Everglades, his works display the close relationship between humanity and the natural world around us.

Biography: On a summer morning in 1993 a 22 years old young came to Florida, USA from a small old town in the central area of Cuba called Santa Clara. In his bag, he brought no more than two valuable things, his worn-out brushes and a great dream. The dream to one day become a professional artist in this new land that welcomed him with open arms. Andres Lopez was born on July 6, 1971. As a child, he developed a deep love for the beauty of the countryside and the exquisite architecture of his hometown. He participated in drawing contests at the tender age of 9 where landscapes were always his favorite theme. When he became an adolescent he began taking art classes at the local art school and later decided to devote himself to painting and craftwork to support their parents financially. When he arrived at the United States, he immediately worked to achieve his goals. Later, in 1999 Andrés López dedicated his passion to the world of mural painting. In 2003 he obtained his US citizenship and a year later he created his own business called Artistic Illusions Painting, Inc. Today, after a career of more than 30 years, Andrés López continues to paint and teach drawing and painting. "My goal is to build a solid foundation for the student in drawing, composition, understanding of values, etc. Tools that they can use later in their lives as artists." Captivated by his love for the beauty of nature, interpreted with a contemporary vision of painting, his latest works are what he sees even in the most common scenes. The close relationship of life and who we are with the natural world that surrounds us and asks us to respect it and take care of it. Artist Statement: “I like to scrutinize simple things, sometimes that is where the lost painting waits to be found by the artist's eyes. Through my painting I want to establish a close relationship with the natural world and humbly capture on the canvas a bit of its beauty, listening to its voice that reminds us of how valuable is and how much we should love it ”.
