Artist Catherine shares a peek into the beautiful autumnal woodlands of California, presenting her keen eye for color and detail in the impressionist work. Referencing a photograph she took along the Sacramento River, she paints the alluring play of bright and soft color dots within view of her photo. "I used the technique of negative painting around each small shape of sparkle and accentuated the intricacies of this riverside woodland scene with an intriguing calligraphy of branches and stems," shares Catherine.

Impressionist Catherine McCargar expresses her deep admiration of nature through landscape paintings of Northern California. While she is well-versed in a range of media, her preferred medium for painting is watercolor. The fluidity of the paint allows her to capture the muted undertones and the fleeting light found in the natural world.
