About the Item

My work touches on the importance of home and a sense of security. I believe it is a basic human need to feel like someone is waiting for you. I depict not only my homeland, but also other countries and the lives of other people, so that everyone around the world can find their “safe place”. Thanks to the influence of emigration on my consciousness and life, there is a need to search for new structures and images and introduce them into the usual understanding of the world. Difference of cultures and foundations, attempt introduction into a new society without losing the feeling of “home” - the main theme that I reveal in my works Cornflower blue is one of the most enchanting and relaxing colors for the human eye, which is why I often use it in my works.

Old Village - Oil Painting by Sabrina Pugliese - 2016

Old Village - Oil Painting by Sabrina Pugliese - 2016

By Sabrina Pugliese

Located in Roma, IT

Old Village is an original Contemporary Artwork realized by the Italian artist Sabrina Pugliese (b. 1990). Original oil painting on canvas. Hand-signed on the lower right corner: Sabrina Pugliese. Hand-signed, titled, and dated on the back too. Total dimensions: 40x90 cm. Mint conditions. "This scenario represents a small town in southern Italy in the 1950s. I was inspired by a black and white photo of Policoro, in the province of Matera, in Basilicata. This image summarizes the essence of the lifestyle of those years: a simple life, dedicated to agriculture and conviviality". Sabrina Pugliese BIOGRAPHY Sabrina Pugliese was born on April 2nd, 1990 in a small village in the Southern Italy, Nova Siri. Since she was a child, she was interested in arts in their different forms: singing, playing piano and visual arts. She graduated in Modern Literature at the University of Urbino, in the heart of the Italian Renaissance, the birthplace of Raffaello Sanzio. She didn’t have the chance to attend artistic high school because it was too far from home. So, after the graduation, she began to devote herself to her passions: painting, exclusively oil on canvas. She has started painting as a self-trained painter to promote and improve her territory, Basilicata, also named Lucania. Nowadays, she expanded her project because she wants to spread Mediterranean holidays’ colours, sounds and perfumes, with the image of the sea, all over the world. She knows that painting can give voice to landscapes of the soul through seascapes. She lived for ten years away from home to study and work and, in this way, she created a stronger relationship with her origins. During the pandemic, she has decided to return to Basilicata to offer her small contribution to the Southern of Italy. She has participated in several national and international exhibitions including: • Collective exhibition with two painters: Giulio Orioli e Nino Oriolo for “Night of the brigands” 2019, in Nova Siri Centre (MT) thank to collaboration of Maria De Lorenzo...
