About the Item

INVADER (French, b. 1969) & ZEVS (French, b. 1977) Hello My Name Is @nonymous — DVD + 56-Page Booklet 20th Anniversary Edition Control P Editions 2019 Sold Out A sealed copy of the sold-out 20th anniversary DVD edition of @nonymous99, the underground film created by Invader and Zevs during their covert nocturnal collaborations on the streets of Paris in the late 1990s. Originally circulated as a clandestine VHS tape in 1999, this 2019 reissue presents the complete restored film with 16 bonus clips, accompanied by a 56-page color booklet — all housed in packaging that faithfully reproduces the aesthetic of the original VHS release. The reverse is stamped with both Invader's and Zevs's studio logos. Condition: Brand New / Sealed Medium: DVD + 56-page color booklet Dimensions: 19.6 × 12.5 cm (7.7 × 4.9 in.) Languages: French / English Publisher: Control P Editions Edition: Open edition (Sold Out) Year: 2019 Origins of a Movement At the end of the 1990s, two masked artists haunted the streets of Paris after dark. Working under the shared alias @nonymous, Invader and Zevs documented their guerrilla interventions in the urban landscape — one affixing pixelated ceramic tile mosaics to walls, the other painting spectral outlines of shadows cast by street furniture and executing what he termed "visual attacks" on advertising billboards. In 1999, they released their footage as an underground VHS tape, distributed hand to hand, outside any official channels. The film captures a pivotal moment in French street art history: two of the movement's most important figures operating in real time, before either had achieved the international recognition that would follow. In the summer of 1999, the duo jointly "invaded" the city of Montpellier under the @nonymous moniker — work that would later be exhibited at the Galerie Agnès b. in Paris, one of the first galleries to champion the emerging street art movement. The 20th anniversary screening of @nonymous99 took place at Cinéma La Clef in Paris in December 2019, cementing the film's status as a foundational document of the era. Invader (b. 1969, Paris) is one of the most recognized street artists in the world. A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he has installed over 4,000 ceramic tile mosaics across more than 80 cities in 32 countries, from the Hollywood Sign to the International Space Station. His works have sold for over $1.2 million at auction, and his recent Invader's Space Station exhibition in Paris (2024) and participation in Triple Trouble at London's Newport Street Gallery alongside Damien Hirst and Shepard Fairey (2025) underscore his continued institutional prominence. Both artists were featured in Banksy's documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop (2010). Zevs (Christophe Aguirre Schwarz, b. 1977, Saverne, France) is considered one of the pioneers of French street art. Beginning as a graffiti writer in Paris in the early 1990s — adopting his pseudonym after a near-fatal encounter with a commuter train — Zevs became internationally known for three signature interventions: his "Electric Shadows" series (spray-painted outlines of nighttime shadows on Parisian streets), his "Visual Kidnapping" project (slicing figures from billboards and leaving ransom notes), and his "Liquidated Logos" technique (repainting iconic corporate logos — Chanel, Google, Louis Vuitton, Apple — with paint allowed to drip and dissolve). He was famously arrested in Hong Kong in 2009 after painting a liquidated Chanel logo onto a Giorgio Armani storefront. His work has been exhibited at the Palais de Tokyo, the Grand Palais, the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen, and De Buck Gallery in New York.
