A serene alpine lake in Crested Butte is the epitome of summer in Colorado. Towering pine trees line the water's edge, their green leaves contrasting with the bright sky and billowing clouds. A sunlit, rocky shoreline adds warmth to the scene.
About the Artist
Artist Patty Phan captures the beauty of Colorado’s landscapes in her impressionist watercolor paintings. “My art is of places that I love and conjures up specific memories,†says Patty. Her compositions reflect those quiet moments when a strenuous hike, climb, or bike ride pauses, revealing the surrounding beauty. Patty studied art, but as a first-generation Vietnamese-Chinese American, she felt pressured to pursue a stable career, leading her to architecture and technology. In 2020, she picked up a brush again and rediscovered her passion. Now, she paints in a bright corner of her home, accompanied by her two terriers and a playlist that ranges from The Beatles to Beyoncé. When not creating, she enjoys rock climbing, dancing, and spending time with family.
