Fiber Art by Kuba Artists Fabric Size: 26 x 23 in. Frame Size: 30 x 25.5 Vintage, Handmade Cultural Heritage Art from Democratic Republic of the Congo. The foundation cloth is woven of raffia fiber by men using an inclined loom. The geometric, abstract designs are appliqued by women using raffia thread embroidery and fabric in a contrasting color. The background fabric is dark brown and the foreground fabric is beige. Dark brown thread decorates the edges of the foreground fabric in embroidery stiches. This piece is ready to hand in a handsome, vintage, dark wood frame. Glass protects the art.
