About the Item

Thangka painting dates back to 7th century after Buddhism was spread in the Himalayan region (Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet and Northern India). In Eastern world Thangka is considered to be a part of Abhi-Dharma which means "The Art of Enlightenment". It is a scroll painting on canvas. Over the centuries Thangkas gradually acquired the status of collectible fine art from a purely spiritual art. Due to international museum shows and popularity of Buddhism Thangkas in particular are gaining a place on the art world's radar screen. The beauty and power of these intricate paintings are strong enough to stand up aesthetically for any viewer. This unframed single mandala thangka is hand painted on canvas with 24K Real Gold. It has a one big Mandala in the center with many different deities and protectors around it. Red and green nd other color palette blend seamlessly with the shimmering real gold. Mandala means circle in Sanskrit. Mandala is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism, representing the universe. The circular design symbolizes the idea that life circulates just like day and night. Mandalas are believed to create a powerful field of energy. Mandala appears as a series of concentric circles. Each mandala has its own resident deity housed in the square structure situated concentrically within these circles. The square shape indicates that the absolute space of wisdom is without aberration. This square structure has four elaborate doors adorned with bells, garlands and other decorative items. Four gates symbolizes kindness, compassion, sympathy and equanimity. A booklet of "Procedure of making a Thangka" is included with the purchase.
