The second hour. The stillness has not broken — it has only made room.
Two roses now, close but not touching, each holding its own quiet. They do not lean into one another; they simply share the same turquoise air. The branches reach a little further across the linen, the leaves a little denser, and yet nothing feels crowded. There is space between everything, and the space is part of the painting.
This panel is not about meeting, or pairing, or the comfort of company. It is about something subtler: how presence makes room for presence without either one diminishing. Two roses, two separate silences, breathing in the same field.
In the turquoise depth there is the feeling of water, of air after rain — a coolness that asks nothing and holds everything. The second hour does not rush toward the third. It simply lets the second bloom be exactly what it is.
