About the Item

Hyperreal oil painting of plywood board by Anthony Adcock - Oil on ACM (aluminum composite material) **No wood was used in this piece. It is an oil painting - painted by hand on ACM panel. Everything, including the wood grain and pencil lines, is hand-painted with oil paint. **Note: a 2' x 2' foot square hole is cut out of the center of the panel. Anthony Adcock's hyperreal oil paintings and sculptures literally resemble the objects found on a job site: pieces of worn plywood, rusty I-beams, scrap rebar, work tools, etc., and are often dismissed as debris and not actual artwork. Adcock is a superb example of a Conceptual Realist who utilizes realism as a point of departure, focusing on the essence of the subject matter rather than verisimilitude. He creates his artwork by synthesizing the knowledge gleaned from three generations of builders, his comprehensive understanding of the trade, and an uncompromising studio practice dedicated to advancing realism. By combining his expert understanding of construction with the intellectual rigor of abstract painting via realism, Adcock's artwork oscillates between amazement and absurdity.   Hyperrealism, realism, realist, conceptual realism, trompe l'oeil, conceptual art, conceptual realism, construction, wood, plywood, building materials, oil painting, contemporary art, abstraction, abstract painting, tromp l'oeil painting

Turquoise abstract painting - Acrylic and graphite on canvas in artist frame. Signed on back by the artist. Mark Zimmermann's work is based on the fusion of meditative fields, architectonic structures and an organic gestural line that is one-part intentional and one-part accidental. Zimmermann clearly demonstrates his deftness of hand though labored bands of color, building and editing one band upon other, until the editing process renders compositions that combine both hard-edge and action-painting abstraction. In discussing this work, the editor and writer, Larry Qualls noted,“...a majestic landscape...
