About the Item

Recycled industrial press ink lends Latour's work a saturation of colour and textural detail that is unique to the medium. Through careful manipulation he is able to craft paintings that have intricate coral-like surfaces. 'Winter in the City II' is the second of a pair of pieces that evoke the bustle of a city with the whiteout of a winter's day. This piece evokes David Milne's style of using white space to represent the season while Latour's signature colour saturation comes across in the bold orange and green accents through the piece. About the Artist: Arcade Latour is a French-Canadian self-taught artist using the unique medium of industrial press ink - sourcing from commercial printers who would otherwise discard the material. His approach spontaneous process inspired by music and the art of Salvador Dalí, with each piece coming together in layers - taking months to dry. He is a recipient of the Gold prize in the Grand Prix du Design in both the Art for Residential Space and Art for Commercial Space category in 2023.
