About the Item

The Continuum series investigates the subtle gray areas between apparent dualities. I deliberately challenge traditional painting guidelines of composition, unresolved tension, and tonal scale. I blur the relationship between foreground and background, creating an ambiguity of space: what appears to be a floating sense of light at a distance blends into the surface as the viewer approaches the painting. My goal is a hint of dynamic energy within a quiet, contemplative space. The seemingly white or black surface of each painting is actually comprised of several colors that reveal themselves gradually after several minutes of meditation, bringing a temporal dimension to the viewing experience.
