About the Item

“The Memory of Warmth” is an original 54 x 47 cm acrylic painting on cardboard by Finnish multidisciplinary artist Emmi Iida, whose work explores the dialogue between emotion, energy, and material. This piece radiates primal energy — a visceral burst of reds, umbers, and siennas pulsing against the quiet of the untouched surface. The composition evokes the human form without defining it, allowing the viewer to sense rather than see. Its sweeping gestures and fluid movements speak of release and resilience, a meditation on the lingering heat of transformation — what remains after the fire. Painted intuitively with acrylics on cardboard, the work captures both fragility and power, making it a striking piece for collectors drawn to expressive minimalism and contemporary abstraction. About the Artist: Emmi Iida is an internationally exhibiting artist, author, musician and interior architect, working at the intersection of visual art, sound, and design. Her practice is rooted in Nordic minimalism and emotional depth, infused with a global perspective from her years living and creating across Europe and the United States. Her works have been acquired by collectors from New York to Los Angeles, Sydney to Paris, and she is currently represented by MONAT Gallery (Paris, Madrid, Innsbruck) and Van Gogh Art Gallery (Munich, Miami). Upcoming exhibitions include international art fairs and group shows in Europe and the United States in 2025. “Fire Remembered” is an original 54 x 47 cm painting on cardboard by Finnish multidisciplinary artist Emmi Iida, known for her emotionally charged abstractions that merge movement, intuition, and raw texture. The work pulses with elemental energy — vivid reds, deep umbers, and molten oranges rise from the surface like embers caught in motion. Painted in acrylics on cardboard, its composition feels both spontaneous and ceremonial, as if capturing the memory of warmth after transformation. This piece speaks of renewal and the persistence of creative fire — a reminder of the beauty within change and the power of emotion made visible. Its compact scale and strong visual rhythm make it a striking addition to any contemporary collection. Echo In Motion, Abstract Mixed-Media Painting on Paper by Emmi Iida

“Echo in Motion” is an original abstract work on paper by Finnish multidisciplinary artist Emmi Iida, known for her emotionally charged and intuitive compositions that merge gesture, texture, and flow. This 2023 piece captures a moment of raw movement and organic tension — strokes of gray, black, and ochre interlace with fluid drips and translucent washes. The composition feels spontaneous yet deeply intentional, like a visual echo of a fleeting emotion or thought suspended in air. The exposed paper acts as negative space, giving the piece a quiet balance between chaos and stillness. Executed with acrylics and mixed media on fine art paper, “Echo in Motion” reflects Emmi Iida’s continued exploration of energy and emotion through abstraction — a meditation in motion, ideal for collectors drawn to expressive yet minimalist works on paper. Coloured inks and pastel on paper Signed Gestural abstraction Outsider art Artist’s statement : "Painting, for me, is an expressive endeavor in which one depicts the evolution of the various facets of the artistic self. There is, on each canvas, a tension where violence and stillness naturally coexist. By playing with different materials, I seek to establish a sort of unexpected dialogue between these states, and aspire to express this tension through profusion of color. The canvas is the stage that allows me to unite narration with the action of painting the fantastic—even the outrageous---and the everyday. I develop scenarios borrowed from the imagination, which join fantasy, even fables, with the everyday. Pulling threads from each domain, I bring together the mythical and the quotidian, so that the worlds of reality and fantasy merge. I rely on “creatures,” improbable little characters that could exist in some other realm or dimension. They materialize, issuing forth from the surprising, unbelievable and wondrous world of childhood. Human or animal, both find themselves entangled in inextricable and melancholic situations. These inextricable situations create distance; the humor comes through this breach. It is the absurdity of their predicaments that manifests the humor in the work. In each of my paintings, the sentiments are heightened by an intentional, provocative tone that transforms the work. An Otherness is attributed to objects; objects become personified, and by their very presence, they become witnesses or guinea pigs torn between and bound to their dilemma. The titles of my paintings, whether invented or quotations taken out of context, come from literature, theater, or song lyrics. Accident and chance are often major actors in my work.” Emmanuelle Messika BIOGRAPHY : Emmanuelle Messika was born in France in 1979. She works and lives in Paris.
