About the Item

"Kalahari Sun" is an earthy and mocha coffee toned original painting on paper by Kazaan Viveiros. It is an abstract geometric original work on paper with uplifting patterns and shapes. It is part of Viveiros' series titled "Passages". A stunning and contemporary unique painting on paper, this is available unframed. We can have this piece framed for you at an extra cost. A Fellow at the Virginia Center for Creative Arts since 2015, Kazaan Viveiros earned a BA with distinction from the University of Virginia in Studio Art and Religious Studies, and an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. With an interest in architecture, plus being a talented mathematician, it is no surprise that Kazaan Viveiros’ paintings are works of geometric perfection. Carefully considered shapes and colours dynamically draw your eye up and down diagonals before pausing or pivoting at junctions. In contrasting effect to these visuals, the subject matter that this work references is natural and fluid, such as water, handwriting, or nature itself. Viveiros' paintings have caught the attention of collectors far and wide. Five of her pieces are permanently installed in the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and have additionally been acquired by individuals such as Walmart's Rob Walton and novelist Danielle Steel.

The Cornwall-On-Hudson based artist collects pieces of textile that evoke memory, tradition, or experience like cherished worn heirlooms, discarded clothes, and religious garments, which are then assembled on panel in an abstract patchwork. Favoring fabrics with a neutral or subtle cool palette, she flattens and frays the material to explore color, form, and lines, reimaging used cloth...
