BULTRINI, Mateo (Rome 1979)
Lives and works in Pratola Peligna in the province of L ’Aquila. His passion for art and painting as a born child, thanks to many trips with parents, art lovers and literary encounters with poets such as Foscolo, D ’Annunzio, Leopardi, Pessoa. The studies and training of young people led him to freedom of thought and led him to develop his personal interpretation of art.
Its language is inspired by elements in the works of the great masters of modern and contemporary art, Modigliani, Burri, Pollock, Rauschenberg. The language chosen by Bultrini to transfer the first experiences of youth in painting is informal.
Abstract painting becomes the medium to express all your feelings and emotions. Of great importance is the choice of materials used that marks his entire artistic career. MDF becomes the base of support for your creations. The first works denote the strong influence of the American artist Jackson Pollock (drip).
In recent years Bultrini acquired the knowledge that his works can use all kinds of materials, for example, thrown recycled waste.
Alberto Burri's research on color and study led him to experiment with the use of plastics combustion. Bultrini's combustion becomes instinctive action, always related to a purely informal language. In 2006 he presented his first solo exhibition, "Practical Reasons" at the Santoro Colella Pratola Peligna Palace Museum.
In 2007, in Paris. Here you can visit the Robert Rauschenberg retrospective. The works of the artist Bultrini lead to a rethinking and a change in his style and artistic language. Thus began a work of introspection and reflection on existence, which lasted almost a year, in which he was very supportive and helpful to the teacher Ezio Zavarella. A period that leads to the cycle of works entitled "Pieces Noires". In the new production he reveals the originality that was lacking in previous works.
Each work is to be a theatrical representation of memory and the human mind. There are two options adopted: the use of black which is the least known to our mind and combustions that suggest abstract mental constructions.
In this period, Bultrini is invited to participate in several group exhibitions, including:
- ”XV Gabriele D’ Annunzio Award ”
- Pescara, "XV Peligni Painters Festival"
- Castelvecchio Subequo (October 2007)

- National Prize for Poetry and Drawing - Palace of the Nobles - L ’Aquila (June 2008),
- "Paths for Noires pieces", exhibition - Taverna Ducale - Villages (June 2008).
Bultrini's search becomes more introspective, with the mediation of the study and reading of Nietzsche, Freud, and psychoanalysis. His research moves towards the irrational part of man and the meaning of existence. This is how the "Memory Rooms" of the cycle, the works that express originality and new stylistics.
