"The Inevitable Desire of Growth" (2023) by street artist and muralist Vero Rivera Delicate, mandala-like abstract geometric pattern in black and metallic gold. Nonobjective hard edge acrylic on canvas painting, 48" diameter x 1" deep tondo, circular painting. ABOUT THE ARTIST Vero Rivera was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Her work is built around her interest in the contradictions that surround us and our interactions with nature, such as the ephemeral qualities of life resisting the human need or desire for durability and preservation. She aims to catch spectators' attention by utilizing natural elements and their ornamental qualities, while trying to represent how human relations mimic nature's ability to adapt, heal and strive depending on our surroundings and experiences and in relation to time. Vero studied Interior Design and then completed her BFA in painting at Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico in 2011. She first entered the urban art scene working on a series of wheatpastes in abandoned buildings around the city. She began painting murals in 2013. Her work is inspired by her environment, focusing on the importance of nature in urban settings and whether there is enough.
