About the Item

Large-scale acrylic on canvas by New York and Martha's Vineyard based artist Albion Vu, titled "Next Move 14," created in 2024. This signed original work measures 55 x 90 inches and is a one-of-a-kind piece. This is one of the most structurally complex works in the Next Move series. The composition divides into distinct horizontal zones — a warm, cream and russet upper field of dense vertical scratched lines gives way to a cooler band of pale blue and white in the lower half, where the marks shift in rhythm and density. In the upper right, a separate panel of finer, more tightly spaced lines fans outward like a sunburst, introducing a radiating geometry that breaks the horizontal flow and adds unexpected dynamism. The overall palette of ivory, rust, and soft blue gives the piece a quiet, weathered elegance that sets it apart from the darker works in the series. Vu is an architect, fashion designer, and abstract painter who divides his time between New York City and Martha's Vineyard. Born and raised in Eastern Europe, he studied Architecture and Design before relocating to the United States, where he has built a practice that draws on color, texture, structure, and depth as primary forces. In 2024 he exhibited at ARTNET in New York City, where his work was recognized for its ability to blend abstract expressionism with a strong narrative sensibility. This piece is in new condition, undamaged and showing no signs of use. Signed by the artist.
