About the Item

Large-scale acrylic on canvas by New York and Martha's Vineyard based artist Albion Vu, titled "Zen Caos 11," created in 2024. This signed original work measures 70 x 75 inches and is a one-of-a-kind piece from Vu's Zen Caos collection. This canvas is one of the most atmospheric works in the series. Deep cobalt blue fills the lower half with an almost electric intensity, while the upper portion shifts into warmer, earthier tones — bronzes, mauves, and dusty purples — where the scratched lines catch light differently and the surface feels denser, more turbulent. The transition between the two zones is gradual and painterly, like watching a storm move across water. The framed presentation adds a further sense of weight and permanence to an already commanding piece. The Zen Caos series grew out of a period of frustration and perseverance — Vu was pushing to grow his practice, facing rejection from galleries, and channeling that tension into a meditative scratching process that became the defining mark of the collection. The result is work that feels both turbulent and controlled, chaotic and calm at the same time. Vu is an architect, fashion designer, and abstract painter who divides his time between New York City and Martha's Vineyard. Born and raised in Eastern Europe, he studied Architecture and Design before relocating to the United States, where he has built a practice that draws on color, texture, structure, and depth as primary forces. This piece is in new condition, undamaged and showing no signs of use. Signed by the artist. A rare opportunity to acquire a major work from one of the more distinctive voices in contemporary abstract painting. Zen Caos After I had built up a decent body of work and started showing it publicly, I wanted to grow—I wanted to reach a new audience. I began sending emails to galleries and art spaces I admired, but all I got was “no.” That rejection challenged me. I knew I needed to elevate my work—to go bigger in scale, and I craved a proper studio. At the same time, I was growing frustrated with the art world itself. How does this system even work? Who gets to decide what art is “seen”? That frustration fueled my next collection: Zen Chaos. It was a challenge to stay grounded while everything felt chaotic. The technique involved literally scratching at the canvas— digging through the surface to reveal what was underneath. It became a form of meditation, a way to process both the outer rejection and inner tension. This collection is a reflection of trying to stay calm in the storm. Albion Vu is an architect, fashion designer and an abstract painter living between NYC and Martha's Vineyard. Born and raised in Eastern Europe, he moved to the USA after graduating in Architecture and Design. Albion has practiced abstract painting and fashion design and is constantly creating pieces that are a mark of his artistic life. Some of the main sources of his inspiration to make art are color, shapes, silhouettes, structure, texture, depth, and simplicity. From ArtDaily NEW YORK, NY.- Albion Vu’s latest exhibition at ARTNET in New York City is a masterclass in the manipulation of color and form. Vu, known for his vibrant and dynamic compositions, continues to push the boundaries of contemporary art with his latest works. This exhibition, which runs from June 15 to July 30, 2024, showcases Vu’s unique ability to blend abstract expressionism with a keen sense of narrative, creating pieces that are both visually stunning and intellectually stimulating.
