About the Item

Alagbe's artwork draws attention to the man's jacket, which showcases his bare chest. The jacket, reminiscent of a vintage style, represents the layers we often wear to shield ourselves from the world. By revealing his bare chest, the man symbolizes a willingness to be vulnerable and open to self-exploration. The jacket becomes a canvas for introspection, encouraging viewers to reflect on their own inner journeys toward peace and self-discovery. The quote by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, "We all wish for world peace, but world peace will never be achieved unless we first establish peace within our own minds," resonates deeply with Alagbe's artwork. It highlights the idea that true peace cannot be attained externally unless we find serenity within ourselves. The artwork invites viewers to examine their own inner landscape and cultivate a sense of harmony, balance, and compassion toward themselves and others. Embedded within the artwork is another profound quote, this time from The Bhagavad Gita: "Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self." This quote emphasizes the transformative power of yoga as a means of self-reflection and self-realization. Yoga is not just a physical practice but also a spiritual journey that leads us to a deeper understanding of ourselves and our place in the world. The artwork encourages viewers to embrace yoga as a tool for finding inner peace and self-connection. In a world often filled with chaos and conflict, Alagbe's artwork serves as a poignant reminder of the need for inner peace. It prompts viewers to pause, reflect, and examine their own minds and emotions. By contemplating the artwork, individuals are encouraged to explore the practices and activities that bring them tranquility, whether it be yoga, meditation, or self-reflection. The artwork becomes a catalyst for personal growth and an invitation to contribute to the collective pursuit of world peace. Alagbe's "Yoga Feelings On My Vintage Jacket" invites viewers to embark on a journey of self-discovery. It encourages introspection and the examination of one's thoughts, beliefs, and actions. By embracing self-reflection, individuals can identify areas of inner conflict, work towards resolving them, and cultivate a greater sense of peace within themselves. The artwork serves as a gentle reminder that by nurturing our own inner peace, we can contribute to the larger goal of achieving peace in the world. Eyitayo Alagbe's artwork, "Yoga Feelings On My Vintage Jacket," prompts viewers to reflect on the importance of inner peace and self-reflection in our pursuit of global harmony. With quotes from Geshe Kelsang Gyatso and The Bhagavad Gita, the artwork serves as a powerful reminder that peace must first be established within our own minds before it can manifest in the world around us. It encourages viewers to embrace practices like yoga, self-reflection, and mindfulness as tools for cultivating inner peace and contributing to a more peaceful and compassionate society.
