About the Item

Glenn Ness is recognized for his photorealistic oil paintings of vacant backyards, landscapes, urban streets, and interiors. Ness’s compositions are flooded with his signature warm light. Inspired by painters such as the British modernist David Hockney and American suburbia-chronicler Eric Fischl, Ness often depicts unoccupied poolside scenes. The artist has described his work’s theme as isolation without loneliness. When Ness’s paintings include figures, they are often framed from an oblique angle or from behind—a decision that allows the action to unfurl around them. Ness exhibits at the George Billis Gallery and received a BS in art education from Northwest Nazarene University in 1987. His work has been shown in galleries across the U.S. and in the invitational juried exhibition “Expressions West” at the Coos Art Museum (2018).
