This artwork depicts a small pond in a summer or spring mountain landscape in the background. The artist applied different tints in rectangular areas starting from the center. It may suggest different seasons, but it's not, since the vegetation doesn't change. The sunset sky is unaffected by these differences of tint. Two of these areas are filled with mosaic patterns, one light blue and the other yellow. The surrounding area is made as a carpet of leaves with strong veins. Moonlight Phantasy [2021] Original Acrylics on canvas Image size: H:30 cm x W:30 cm Complete Size of Unframed Work: H:30 cm x W:30 cm x D:3.5cm Sold Unframed Please note that insitu images are purely an indication of how a piece may look "Moonlight Phantasy" comes from a lovely wood near my home in the High Peak. When the moon is full you can walk in the evening and it feels almost as light as day. The wood is quiet with dark tones of the trees creating shadows in the pale moonlight. An original artwork, one of a kind, this painting has been created with high quality acrylic paints on deep edged canvas. I begin with observation of the place making notes and taking photographs to work from in the studio. From these beginnings I work intuitively, painting some base layers with a brush and then impasto techniques layer on layer applied with a palette knife. Harnessing optical mixing techniques employed by the impressionists and some of the methods of the old masters such as scumbling and glazing. I continue working until the painting reaches a natural conclusion. The result is a contemporary painting, which lies somewhere between abstraction and realism.
