About the Item

Here for your consideration is a very well executed oil on masonite original painting by the Italian artist, Mario Poggiali. Signed lower right. Circa 1970. Gallery label and certificate of guarantee verso. Condition is excellent, no restorations. The painting’s viewpoint is high above the city of Florence with carriage and figures with umbrellas during a rain observing the dramatic sunset over the Cathedral of Santa Maria Del Fiore and the city of Florence in the distance below. The painting is housed in a black and gold leaf frame in very good original condition. Overall framed measurements are 11.75 by 15.75 inches. Provenance: A upstate New York estate. Mario Poggiali was born in Italy in 1933. He is recognized for his paintings of Italy and of Florence in particular, especially in the rain.
