About Artist Ogunleke Festus Abiodun was born on December 17, 1998. A Nigerian surface painter with a textured finish. He studied art full-time and graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile Ife, Osun State, with a degree. Intricate designs painted on a spiral texture are a hallmark of his distinctive painting technique, which represents human imbalance and life's intricacies. Taking inspiration from people's varied experiences, He wants to use art to express the core of human emotions and hardships. His art explores themes of perseverance, vulnerability, and the interdependence of life, delving into the depths of the human psyche. Artist Statement In my artwork, I explore the interconnectedness of nature and humanity through the use of spiral texture on the background and roots on the human body. The spiral texture represents the cyclical nature of life, the constant movement and evolution of the world around us. It symbolizes growth, transformation, and the interconnectedness of all living beings. The roots on the human body serve as a visual representation of our connection to the earth, our foundation and source of nourishment. They intertwine with the figure, weaving in and out of the skin, symbolizing the deep roots of our existence and how we are grounded in the natural world. Together, the spiral texture and roots tell a story of resilience and growth, of the cyclical nature of life and the interconnectedness of all living beings. They remind us of our place in the world, our connection to the earth, and each other. Through this artwork, I aim to evoke a sense of harmony and unity, a reminder of the beauty and complexity of the natural world and our place within it.
