This interior painting, "Waiting for Train", is a 40x30 oil painting on canvas by artist Beth Dacey depicting multiple figures in an open train hall. Multiple figures are depicted in period specific wear standing staring away from the viewer. While other figures are caught in motion and a moment of time. Beth paints from old photographs, primarily from the 1950's and 1960's. She will crop out facial features of the people which allows the viewer to relate to the painting in their own way. Michele Zalopany was born in Detroit, Michigan. She attended the Columbus College of Art and Design from 1973 to 1974 and the Cleveland Institute of Art from 1976 to 1978. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Visual Arts in 1981. Through her labor-intensive mezzotints, Zalopany employs realism to depict fictitious scenes, bearing witness to the disintegration of what was once the fulcrum of the American economy in Detroit.
