About the Item

Story about Painting: I admit it, I'm a sucker for Ferraris. On our trip to Italy in 2018, we visited the Ferrari Maranello Museum. In one of the rooms was this gorgeous Monza. As I walked around her, I was instantly drawn to the back quarter of the car. The angle encouraged you to open the door and sit in the drivers seat. She was ready to take on the racing field.  This piece was a challenge for me due to the instrumentation. Dials are a new thing for me to paint. I greatly enjoyed painting this Ferrari and look forward to bringing more race cars to life on canvas.  This painting was included in the international Freewheeling - The Allure of the Automobile in Contemporary Art through the Highlands Motoring Club and Bascom Art Center Gallery. Shannon "Shan" Fannin (b. 1969) is an American artist known for her dynamic portrayals of vehicles. Working in acrylics, she combines photorealism with abstract elements, often using her hands and brushes to create textured, energetic compositions. Fannin travels extensively to photograph vehicles and engage with their owners, enriching her creative process. Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions across the United States and has garnered numerous awards, including international recognition. Fannin's paintings have been displayed in Times Square, included in the Lunar Codex Moon project, been featured on television, and celebrated in art, automotive, and motorcycle publications internationally.  Her work is found in collections throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. Artist Statement: Vehicles are more than just machines that get us around. They are wheeled expressions of our individuality. I try to capture that in my paintings.  I paint vehicles from the past, and ones that people dream of driving someday. The best part is when someone connects with my art, sharing their own car stories and dreams. That's when I know I've done a good job.
