About the Item

Expressive Male Portrait French, mid 20th century from the studio collection of Simone Forge (1930's-1950's female French artist) oil on canvas, unframed Canvas: 24 x 19.75 inches Provenance: private collection, France Condition: sound condition Description: This mid-20th-century oil painting presents an expressive and introspective portrait of a man, executed with bold brushstrokes and a muted, earthy color palette. The artist has captured the subject’s serious and contemplative expression, using a dynamic application of paint to convey depth and emotion. The rough, textured brushwork around the face and background adds an abstract quality, while still maintaining a strong sense of realism in the figure’s features.
