Image size 25 inches x 19.1 inches ( 63.5cm x 48.5cm ). Frame size 34.8 inches x 28.7 inches ( 88.5cm x 73cm ). Available for sale; this captivating original work in the Parisienne aesthetic is by a skilled French artist who was a follower of the French society artist Jean-Gabriel Domergue. The painting itself dates from around the 1950s. The painting is presented and supplied in its original frame (which is shown in these photographs) which has been redecorated to elevate and complement the decorative appeal of the artwork as the complete package. The canvas, stretcher and frame have benefitted from cleaning, restoration and conservation, which was performed on our instruction, supervision and approval. This vintage painting is in very good condition. It wants for nothing and is supplied ready to hang and display. Although not a work by the celebrated French painter Jean-Gabriel Domergue himself, the painting is unmistakably executed in the spirit of his highly distinctive style, suggesting that the artist was either a follower, disciple, or admirer of Domergue’s glamorous vision of Parisian elegance. The composition portrays a sophisticated young woman standing confidently against the backdrop of a racecourse, her poised stance and direct gaze embodying the chic refinement and self-assurance associated with mid-century French high society.
