A wonderful 19th-century genre scene depicting two young ladies pursuing the attention of a handsome young gentleman resting on a wooden bench outside a stone cottage. The two ladies can be seen attempting to tickle the peaceful gentleman with a long strand of straw, millimetres away from his nostril. The charming work has been beautifully presented in an antique 19th-century gilt frame with a vine and berry running pattern. Unsigned. On canvas. Image size: 39 x 28.5cm.
