The buildings are broken into flattened planes of ochre, terracotta, cream, pale blue and grey, with orange rooftops and angular architectural forms giving the composition its rhythm. Along the lower edge, the line of dark figures adds a wonderful sense of theatre and movement. Framed at just over 24 inches wide, this is a very usable scale for a hallway, study, sitting room or dining space. The warm terracotta and ochre tones would sit naturally with wood, linen, plaster, stone or antique furniture, while the touches of blue give the piece a fresher, more modern note.
