About the Item

Have you ever felt like two people living inside one body? One of them knows exactly who she is. She feels it in her bones, in the way certain music undoes her, in the things she creates at 2am when no one is watching. The other one has learned — carefully, exhaustively — how to be acceptable. How to soften her edges. How to translate herself into something the room can handle. "The Dance of Two Selves" is the conversation between them. Two women move together across the canvas — and yet they are one. The dark-haired figure turns inward, her hand raised to her own face in a gesture so private it feels almost wrong to witness. She is the one who remembers. The one who holds the original blueprint of who you were before the world started editing you. The red-haired figure leans away, luminous and uncontained, her copper waves catching light like something that refuses to be dimmed — she is who you become when you stop performing and start simply being. They do not fight. That is the most honest thing about this painting. They dance. Because the truth is, these two selves never fully separate. The one who adapted kept you safe. The one who remained kept you alive. The tension between them is not a wound — it is a rhythm. It is the most human dance there is. The spray paint erupts around them in orange, magenta, blue — the visual noise of every voice that ever told you be normal, be reasonable, be less. And still, beneath all of it, the two figures move together with a grace that cannot be drowned out. The graffiti tags scatter like opinions — urgent, overlapping, eventually meaningless — while the women themselves remain, unhurried and undeniable. You have danced this dance. Every single day, in ways so small you stopped noticing. This painting notices. It sees both of you — and it holds them both with equal tenderness. The Mysterious Two, Original Abstract Painting

The Mysterious Two, Original Abstract Painting

Located in Boston, MA

The Mysterious Two 16.0 x 20.0 x 1.0, 2.0 lbs Acrylic Hand signed by artist Artist's Commentary: "When I painted this piece my intention was not to create a face. I just wanted to paint and use the time to relax and release the days tension. With this piece when you change the angle you might be able to see another bizarre abstract face. One face is of a lady and the other is of a bearded man! It's a definitely a great conversational piece!" About the Artist: Karen Reid is an artist known as K.Marie. She is originally from London, England and has been living in the United States for over twenty years. She now resides in Florida with her two daughters. Karen grew up in a historical environment exposed to a fusion of all kinds of art forms like music, dance, sculptures, and paintings. Using her gift, she took part in dance, singing, and poetry, but the only thing she did not partake in was painting and drawing. She appreciated it but she never believed that it was an ability she had. Fast-forward just last year May 2021 her friend - artist Shante Brooks gave her art materials and encouraged her to paint. Facing her fears, she painted and grew more comfortable as time went on and was able to turn a blank canvas into a masterpiece. Karen has stated that she is inspired by every aspect of her life - her paintings are a true and full expression of her in art form. Just this year she was invited to be featured as one of the artists at Crossroads Talent Florida and Art...
