About the Item

You think it started 500 years ago? You're partly right. But the real exploration began, in my opinion, in the late 1940s. That's when the great event happened. America started moving across the country in droves. And that was helped by simple buses. Well, they weren't exactly simple buses. They were comfortable buses designed to travel long distances. And that's it, you might ask. Because by this time, America had a well-developed rail network. It had the largest number of private cars. And yet the bus was the main engine of progress. Of course, that's a metaphor. Of course at that time there were many social and economic factors that influenced the movement of people much more than the availability of the bus. But all other symbols have been safely forgotten and buses remain a reflection of the era. :: Painting :: Contemporary :: This piece comes with an official certificate of authenticity signed by the artist :: Ready to Hang: Yes :: Signed: Yes :: Signature Location: front :: Canvas :: Landscape :: Original :: Framed: No

By Francis DiFronzo

Located in Fairfield, CT

Born in San Pedro, California in 1969, Francis DiFronzo has been painting and exhibiting his artwork in the United States for more than thirty years. "I discovered at a young age that art had the ability to transport me out of my world and into the lives of artists I admired. When I looked at paintings by Andrew Wyeth or Edward Hopper, I felt as though I was momentarily living in the worlds they created. I wanted to do the same thing. I wanted my work to have that power." After receiving his B.F.A in 1994 from California State University, Fullerton, DiFronzo moved to Philadelphia, PA where he continued his studies in drawing and painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. There he worked and learned under the guidance of artists Murray Dessner, Jan Baltzell, Sidney Goodman, Vincent Desiderio and Irving Petlin. Di Fronzo...
