About the Item

Where does reality end and illusion begin? This work explores the themes of manipulation, simulation, and the fragility of trust. An old television set — a symbol of a past era when the screen seemed like a window to truth — becomes a metaphor for a filter that recodes reality. In the background appears the word Lie — short, sharp, almost absolute. It does not scream, yet it remains constantly present, like a shadow behind every image. This painting speaks about the temptation to believe what we see. About how easily meanings can be replaced, accents shifted, and simulations created instead of lived experience. Here, the screen is not just an object, but a boundary between the inner and the outer world, between fact and interpretation. “Illusion” places the viewer in the position of a witness: do you trust what you see? And are you ready to question your own perception? The painting was exhibited in a solo exhibition at a museum in the city of Odesa.
