Gaze out of the window that shows view of Saint Petersburg. In the foreground on the windowsill is a yellow and red blooming flower in a fragile glass vase. The window reflects this image as well as rooftops of the houses in the light pink window glass. The middle ground reveals a cast-iron dark grey street light, an elegant bridge and the stream underneath. The village is composed of some houses, round dark green trees and a road next to the steam. Clouds at the top of the painting create a dusky atmosphere. This artwork is framed in a hand plated silver frame. Artist: Alexander Alexandrovich Osmerkin (Aleksander Aleksandrovich Osmerkin) is one of those prominent masters of painting of the first half of the 20th century whose artistic life was remarkable for the indefatigable search for his creative individuality. Osmerkin's creative heritage consists of more than 700 works of painting, graphics, scenery that are kept at Tretyakovskaya Gallery, Museum of Fine Arts (Moskow), Museum of Russian Culture (St.-Peterburg), Kiev Museum of Russian Art and at some other museums in Ukraine, Russia. Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Lithuania and in some private collections. He had a considerable influence on the development of modern art having taught a lot of famous painters, - among them are - People's artists of USSR - N.Krylov and E.Moiseenko, People's artists of Armenia - Aslamazyan and Abegyan, honoured artists of Russia - Nikich and Konchalovsky and many others. In autumn 1922 Osmerkin participated for the first time in an exhibition abroad ("First Russian art exhibition", Berlin). Osmerkin received a proposal to become a professor in 1932 - head of the individual art workshop in Leningrad Institute of painting, sculpture and architecture (Russian Academy of Art). He Participated in the jubilee exhibition "Artists of RSFSR over 15 years" in the State Russian museum in Leningrad (presented 10 works of art). 1933 in the exhibition "Artists of RSFSR over 15 years" he presented ten works of art in Moscow in rooms of State History museum. In 1941 Alexander Osmerkin participated in the "Exhibition of the best works of art of the soviet artists", that took place in the State Tretyakov Gallery. Source: Osmerkin Museum HP
