About the Item

On the Road #5 feels like landscapes remembered in motion rather than observed in place. Bands of color slide past the eye; like fields seen from a moving car, horizons blur and dissolve. The land is never fixed; it is passing. Colors works emotionally and pulse like fleeting traces of human presence with roads, borders, memories. Everything seems to transition being between moments and places. May be what they offer is not a destination, but through time and the rhythm of going, the poetry of movement itself. Presented by Andra Norris Gallery in California. Evocative, elegant, modern and unique. French American Frédéric Choisel, has had multiple solo and group exhibitions in New York, Paris, and the San Francisco Bay Area. He is inspired by the cities and countryside of France, New York, and California's Bay Area. Like Gerhard Richter, with a background in hyperrealism and shift into abstraction, Choisel is taking us along with him on a new intellectual journey through his elegant abstractions. Beautiful, rich, highest quality materials used throughout including raw Belgian linen. Artist signed, titled and dated verso. Condition excellent. Wired, ready to hang, framing not required.

'Clearing' - abstract landscape - color block - impressionism

'Clearing' - abstract landscape - color block - impressionism

By Susan Maakestad

Located in Atlanta, GA

This painting features hues of blue and purple. Memphis-based painter, Susan Maakestad is attracted to the spaces between things, the unnoticed marginal spaces in the urban landscape. Likewise, as a painter she likes painting in the unsettling place between abstraction and naturalism. Her prosaic subjects have included big box store parking lots; pedestrian crosswalks at urban intersections; webcam traffic footage of midwestern freeways; and the landscape as viewed through municipal security cameras...
