About the Item

H.East was a painter in oils of landscapes and rural scenes, who was active at the turn of the 19th to 20th century. He did not exhibit his work in the normal exhibition galleries but his paintings were in high demand. The subjects of his paintings included rural landscapes in North Wales, such as 'On the Llugwy' and sone rural landscapes such as ' Near Gomshall and 'Driving the Sheep' The style of the work is similar to the paintings of Daniel Sherrin. Listed in Hidden Talents, Jeremy Wood The painting is framed in a vintage English frame circa 1960

The work is typical of his oeuvre and includes seated figures, a fisherman, cattle and sheep. Glen Falloch is a valley in the Argyll and Bute area of Scotland. It lies between Crianlarich and Loch Lomand. The river Falloch, which is featured in the painting, flows through it before entering Loch Lomand.
