Mount Washington is a historic neighborhood in the northeast area of Los Angeles. The painting captures the glow of the sun setting on the Los Angeles downtown skyline.
Ilana expresses the life energy of the landscape using gestural brushwork. The gestural freedom is juxtaposed against areas of intricate detailed passages. As a formal element, rhythmic pattern brings structural organization to the paintings, capturing the pulse of the city.
