OLD TOWN REVERIES Size: 79 x 66.5 cm (including frame) Oil on canvas A contemplative and nostalgic 20th century street scene composition that captures a quiet yet animated urban square, where figures drift through a softened architectural landscape, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 1979. Tall, weathered buildings rise in layered formation, their facades dissolving into one another. In the foreground, loosely rendered figures – some in conversation, others moving independently – animate the space with a gentle rhythm, giving the composition a sense of everyday life observed from a distance. The style leans toward a semi-abstract impressionism, where structure and atmosphere take precedence over precise detail. The artist has employed a restrained palette of light yellows, muted creams, soft greys, and earthy browns, punctuated by occasional darker accents in the figures. These tones create a hazy, almost nostalgic ambiance, as if the scene is filtered through memory or mist. Brushwork is expressive and fluid, with vertical strokes elongating the buildings and lending them a sense of quiet monumentality.
