About the Item

A wide, meandering river winds through a misty marshland and recedes into the hazy distance, rendered with impressionistic brushwork and an atmospheric palette of navy, brown, and grey tones. What is most distinctive about the work, however, is the sky, where the artist builds up layers of paint to create luminous light effects in a manner reminiscent of J.M.W. Turner (1775-1851). Unsigned. On canvas on stretchers. Image size: 51.5 x 61.5cm.
