About the Item

Still Waters 14" x 11" oil Landscape Oak Tree, clouds, stream, horse, Fall The artist paints the days in the early Fall in Texas painting but it could be many places. The Texas Hill Country is a distinctive geographic and cultural region in Central Texas, known for its rugged limestone and granite hills, numerous spring-fed rivers, and a blend of American and German heritage. It is a popular destination for outdoor recreation, wine tasting, and exploring charming small towns. V....Vaughan is known for impressionist paintings of wildlife, western themes, scenes in Italy, France and all things Texas . Her paintings are part of the permanent collection of the Gadsen Alabama Museum of Art, the Bone Creek Museum of Agrarian Art (in NE) and the Great Plains Art Museum at the University of Nebraska, as well as in countless private collections. She is a dedicated blogger and teacher of art! Since 2021, she has conducted yearly workshops at a castle in France, where artists get to live and enjoy art making and life in a 12th century castle all to themselves. A lifelong Texan, Vaughan has lived her lifetime in the Austin area of Central Texas. As a child, she exhibited a love of making art and played the role of the creative one among the seven children in her family. She began a graphic arts career at 16, first designing for the businesses owned by her siblings but eventually rising to creative director at several Austin area agencies. “My big family always conveyed to me that my art was a God-given talent,” she says. “Somehow that made me feel that it was something I was supposed to do. This gave me permission to pursue it.” Vaughan attended college on athletic scholarship, though she filled her schedule with art classes and subsequently secured an internship at an advertising agency. That introduction to the corporate world set her off in a new direction—she left school to parlay the summer job into a full-time position. She continued to work as a commercial artist for several years, winning prestigious ADDY Awards and working on high-profile accounts including Samsung, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, RockSports and Harcourt Publishing. Marriage and children prompted her move into free-lance agency work, illustration, design and personal projects. Her most notable efforts have included “Big Fun Maps”, RockSports T-Shirt lines of sports designs, and as a fine art painter, and instructor. Her renowned solo exhibit, "Last Year on the Farm” traveled the USA in 2010 and received national exposure. “I paint because it’s the best way I know to communicate, study, and SHARE the many wonders of creation”. Her paintings are part of the permanent collection of the Gadsen Museum of Art, the Bone Creek Museum of Agrarian Art and the Great Plains Art Museum as well as in countless private collections. Also shown are several other paintings by Virginia Vaughan available.

Golden Treetops Conejos River in southern Colorado cottonwood trees sun rays

Golden Treetops Conejos River in southern Colorado cottonwood trees sun rays

Golden Treetops Conejos River in southern Colorado cottonwood trees sun rays 8" x 10" Framed The 93-mile-long Conejos River, a tributary of the Rio Grande, drains the eastern San Juan Mountains, which features some of the San Luis Valley’s most incredible scenery. Flowing from snowmelt beginning just northeast of Pagosa Springs, the Conejos meets up with the Rio Grande about 15 miles southeast of Alamosa; just south of there, it’s dammed at the Platoro Reservoir, which controls flooding and irrigation for San Luis Valley agriculture. Much of Conejos County was ceded to the United States in land grants from the Mexican government in the mid-19th century, and settlements along the river popped up here, thanks in part to plentiful fishing. Mostly wide and shallow, the river only occasionally has steep descents, and near Antonito, Colorado, it’s home to some truly spectacular fly-fishing. The beautiful, remote Conejos River Valley, just west of tiny Antonito, Colorado, is home to rugged cliffs, including The Pinnacles (a popular whitewater rafting destination), and wide-open meadows perfect for casting. It’s basically home to every type of trout imaginable, and it’s not hard to see why fly-fishermen come from all over the American West to check out the Conejos. California Eucalyptus, Oak and Pond Landscape

California Eucalyptus, Oak and Pond Landscape

By Jesse Don Rasberry

Located in Soquel, CA

Beautiful landscape painting of a California pond with Eucalyptus and Oak trees by Jesse Don Rasberry (American, 20th Century). Presented in a rustic wooden frame. Signed on verso. Acquired directly from the artist. Image: 8.25"H x 10"L. Rasberry was born in Oklahoma and soon after relocated to Lodi, California. Growing up in close proximity to wide open agricultural land and the scenic San Joaquin River Delta had a profound impact on Rasberry and influenced and inspired his paintings. Full Bio: Jesse Don Rasberry was born on November 10, 1940 in rural, picturesque Oklahoma. Shortly after his birth, his family relocated to California, living a short while in Palm Springs, before eventually settling in the grape-growing region of Lodi in San Joaquin County. Later, the family moved a short distance south to Stockton, California, where Rasberry's father supported the group as a builder and carpenter. They would remain in the Stockton/Lodi area throughout Rasberry's adolescent and formative years. Growing up in close proximity to wide open agricultural land and the scenic San Joaquin River Delta had a profound impact on Rasberry, and would later form the foundation and inspiration for his artistic endeavors. The family traveled frequently, which exposed him to the dramatic landscapes of the Southwest. As a young child, Rasberry showed a strong interest in art and the natural world. He attended grade school and high school in Stockton, where Rasberry pursued drafting and drawing. Throughout his life, he always found time in his leisure to draw portraits, wildlife, and architecture. Rasberry also enjoyed woodworking, eventually following in his father's footsteps, embarking on a career as a general contractor and home builder. In 1979, Rasberry relocated to Texas where he continued to work as a general contractor and home builder. During the early 1980s, he commenced a new career as a decorative and fine arts dealer. This career was more in keeping with his appreciation of art. As a dealer in the trade, he was exposed to all manner of art from the 19th and 20th centuries, which served to sharpen his eye and provided much inspiration for the soon-to-be artist. In the early 1980s, while in Texas, Rasberry started painting, primarily landscapes of Texas and California. He spent time with, and drew inspiration from, the regional artists Bill Warden, and Louise Collins. As time passed, Rasberry began to devote more time to his painting, and by the turn of this century, art had become his primary focus. Essentially self-taught, Rasberry received some instruction from the late Bill Warden of Texas. On occasion, he paints with other artists during classes and on plein air painting excursions, as with Ning Hou...
