DESCRIPTION
Expressive Mediterranean harbor scene depicting fishing boats moored in the Port of Tarragona, executed in 2004 by Spanish painter Xavier Aluja.
The composition captures the industrial-maritime atmosphere of one of Catalonia’s most historically important working ports through energetic brushwork and luminous reflections across the water surface. The contrast between anchored vessels and distant harbor cranes creates a dynamic balance between tradition and contemporary coastal activity.
Harbor subjects from the Catalan Mediterranean coastline remain especially appreciated by collectors seeking authentic regional maritime imagery connected to Barcelona and Tarragona’s long pictorial tradition of port scenes.
The panoramic horizontal format and vibrant chromatic structure make this painting particularly suitable for modern interiors, coastal homes or collections focused on Mediterranean harbor iconography.
